Happy Birthday Lizzie!

Indulgent post today to say Happy Birthday to my lovely sister Lizzie! I hope she has a really wonderful day and, as always, I wish I was with her to celebrate her birthday.

For her present I bought her some earrings from Gifted in Thaxted, one of my favourite shops, and as you might be able to see from the picture below I was very tempted to keep them!

Happy Birthday! Lots of love Jo x

What's New notonthehighstreet ... not pussycat

I was featured on the What's New part of the notonthehighstreet.com website last week and as part of their email Say Hello to Our New Sellers which seems to have enticed new sellers to me which was very welcome!

I also had an email query from a customer in Australia wanting to know if I had Mother's Day Banners ... why yes of course I do! These are available from Rose & Aster, The Sweet Shop and notonthehighstreet.com.

I also received an interesting email which meant I had to rush to the post office with three samples to catch next day delivery which I hope I can tell you more about later ... ?

Thaxted 1964 and 2011

You may remember that I picked up some old magazines for 5p the other day and one of them had a photo of Thaxted on it. When I happened to be in Thaxted the other day with my camera I couldn't resist trying to recreate the photo. It has hardly changed at all!

Violets

We have some beautiful white violets in the garden,

which remind me of my Gran, who loved purple

and was a wonderful cook.

Kate Fletcher - Vintage Style Hire

I am delighted to introduce The Stockman Diaries the new blog from Kate Fletcher. Kate has been, and continues to be, an enormous help and inspiration to me in these early days of Daisyley and so I'm really pleased she will be blogging more.

The Stockman Diaries will include details of weddings and events, both in the planning stages and details of the day, along with all things ‘vintage’ – from items Kate has to hire through to styling ideas.

Reading about her events will be fascinating as Kate's passion for her work is wonderful (she just loves her job) so it will be interesting to read how this knowledge, commitment and enthusiasm builds from the planning to the end result.

And I can't wait for her styling ideas, as she's just one of those people who can pull together new and old and make it work. If she tells you even half the stories of how she acquired her vintage finds then it will be a fun read too!

Sarah's Birthday

It was my friend Sarah's birthday the other day and as she has just acquired a beach hut in Frinton she had a very 'beach hut' themed birthday present.

She loves and I mean really, really loves cleaning so it seemed appropriate to give her a lovely new tea towel for her hut which I got from Ruby May London.

Of course, I had to get a beach hut card too, which I got from sundaebest,

and a present from me wouldn't be complete without a banner!

Rose & Aster

I got my first wholesale order this week from Rose & Aster. {That is the professional, grown up way to start this blog entry.} OR Can you believe it someone actually asked me to supply their shop - woohoo - thank you! {That is the way I actually reacted to the news.}

Whichever version you prefer please go and have a look at the website, or pay a visit to the actual shop, of Rose & Aster because they have some simply gorgeous things. I wish I lived a bit closer to Missenden so I could just pop in and have a look. A visit to the Chilterns may be in order.

Order preparation.
All packaged up!

It must be Spring ...

Our lovely chickens have started laying again. I went to let them out and noticed nestled in the corner a lovely egg. Can't tell you how happy I was ... ridiculously so ... but it just seemed to be another sign that Spring is definitely on its way.

Particularly good as it was Shrove Tuesday this week so we had wonderfully yellow pancakes.

Just in case you think I only love our egg laying chickens here is a photo of our truly magnificent Mr Cockerel who, even though he thinks he has a right to come indoors, I'm very fond of too.

Green

All I did was have my godson to stay the night and in return I got these fabulous apples from Lathams

I was really worried that the boys would think they were real and bite into them as they look so realistic but thankfully as they're not in the fruit bowl they seem to have resisted them!

They now join my growing collection of green kitchen things ... I feel I need to stop now.

Not On The High Street

I am now live on notonthehighstreet. Hurrah! It has taken me some time to get it right and the activation team were endlessly patient and encouraging. It would have been so easy for them to send standard emails telling me to get better photos, write longer descriptions and learn how to do meta keywords myself but they took the time to send really kind, positive emails which was really appreciated.

I was absolutely thrilled to get an order the day after going live and have already made a couple of trips to the post office. It is all a bit of a steep learning curve but so far (fingers firmly crossed) it seems to be going well.

Mud

During half term the boys and my godson attended a rugby camp for two days. Now I was expecting a bit of mud as it had rained a lot the day before but I hadn't anticipated quite how muddy they would be. One of the coaches decided to let them do mud slides at the end of the day ..... ! My washing machine may never recover.

Pink

There is not much pink in my house, so sometimes I have to buy some.
