Feb 2013 - The Boy With No Shoes, William Horwood - OK didn't particular enjoy it but didn't hate it either.
Jan 2013 - Oranges aren't the only Fruit, Jeanette Winterson - Enjoyed it but didn't like the fantasy passages though. Easy read and it read like an autobiography.
Dec 2012- Cold Comfort Farm, Stella Gibbons - love to re-read this and loved it.
Nov 2012 - The Guide to the Birds of East Anglia, Nicholas Drayson - didn't get time to read.
Oct 2012 - Forgotten Garden, Kate Morton - loved this, had me guessing what would happen all the way through.
Sept 2012 - Before I Go To Sleep, S J Watson - Gripping read it v quickly. Clever twists.
Augt 2012 - We are Made of Glue, Marina Lewycka - Enjoyed it, lovely characters and well written.
Jul 2012 - Free Choice so I read Fifty Shades of Grey! Weirdly addictive and just wanted to know what everyone was going on about.
Jun 2012 - Life of Pi, Yann Martel - Same excuse too busy to read it but will get round to it.
May 2012 - Emma, Jane Austen - Too busy to finish this but want to and will ....
Apr 2012 - Sister, Rosamund Lupton - Thought it would be schmultzy but it wasn't. Enjoyed it a lot. Poignant.
Mar 2012 - Chalcot Crescent, Fay Weldon - not my favourite book but a nice easy read.
Feb 2012 - Martyr, Rory Clements - historical mystery that I would normally avoid like the plague (excuse the pun) but it was good. The joy of a book club is that you get to read, and enjoy, books you would never pick up and this is one of those.
Jan 2012 - Month off.
Dec 2011 - The Island, Victoria Hislop - had read this before but enjoyed it just as much reading it for the second time. Lovely book.
Nov 2011 - The Help, Kathryn Stockett - very interesting. Happened to coincide with Oscar learning about racism at school so we have had lots of insightful discussions. Hope to see the film.
Oct 2011 - Exmoor Witch, Margaret Drabble - euugh didn't like this at all. Found it heavy going and a bit irritating. Couldn't relate to the characters, couldn't relate to the story, felt no empathy for their plight at all. Don't think I'll be rushing to read any more Margaret Drabble!
Sep 2011 - Sacred Heart, Sarah Dunant - Difficult to get into but after a bit really started to care about the characters. A first for our book club everyone loved it.
Aug 2011 - One Day, David Nicholls - Enjoyable read.
Jul 2011 - The Children's Book, A S Byatt - Never finished it.
Jun 2011 - The Children's Book, A S Byatt - So long we decided to carry it over to next month.
May 2011 - The Peacock Emporium - Jojo Moyes - Pleasant easy read.
Apr 2011 - Sapper Martin, Richard Van Emden - Really interesting & I learnt a lot.
Mar 2011 - Moonstone, Wilkie Collins - Not finished but intend to.
Feb 2011 - A Short History of Tractors in Ukraine - Very funny.
Jan 2011 - Ancestor Stones, Aminatta Forna - Don't know if I loved it or hated it. Found it confusing and would like to read again.
Dec 2010 - A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens - Loved it, must remember to read to the boys.
Nov 2010 - My Sister's Keeper, Jodi Picoult - Too shmultzy for me and I like a happy ending.
Oct 2010 - The Shipping News, Annie Proulx - Quite difficult to "get into" but once I did I quite liked it.
Sep 2010 - Far From The Madding Crowd , Thomas Hardy - Loved it loved it loved it.
Aug 2010 - Alice In Wonderland, Lewis Carroll - OK.
Jul 2010 - Bookseller of Kabul, Asne Seirstad - Fascinating.
Jun 2010 - Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury - Too science fictiony for me.
May 2010 - The Shadow of the Wind, Carlos Ruiz Zafon - Exciting kept me gripped to the end.
Apr 2010 - The Ginger Tree, Oswald Wynd - Jumped about a lot, didn't really like it.
Mar 2010 - The Picture of Dorian Grey, Oscar Wilde - Loved it, so beautifully written.
Feb 2010 - Blue Shoes and Happiness, A McCall Smith - Nice easy read.
Jan 2010 - Counting the Stars, Helen Dunmore - Dull.
Dec 2009 - The Guernsey Potato Peel & Literary Society - Didn't like the way it was written i.e., letters but OK.
