I believe in pink ...

I have been doing some bunting for Claire (The Sweet Shop) as she is doing a wedding sweet table and she asked for bunting around her theme of pale pink, mint green and gold. I actually love pink and green together but for some reason it looked rather sickly when I had one letter green and one letter pink so I decided to just go with pale pink and little mint green hearts.

It's so pretty that it made me feel quite girly. Oh to be as elegant as Audrey ....

"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles." Audrey Hepburn

Father's Day Card Tutorial

Of course you will all have bought your Happy Father's Day bunting from me (!) but you will also need a card and if you haven't got one, and you have little ones, you might like to get them to do this.

First of all grab a piece of paper or card and fold it in half. Then draw round their hand.

Then ask your child to think of five lovely things about their dad and either they can write them on the fingers or if they are too small you could write them. You could always just write High 5 on it or something far wittier?

That's it - then simply hand him the card (geddit hand him the card!).

Sport Mad

I'm not really complaining because I'd rather pick up sports equipment than games console controls but why oh why does Oscar need to just abandon his tennis, cricket and rugby stuff just inside the kitchen door?

And does he really need to have three cricket bats, three tennis racquets, three rugby balls on the go all at the same time?

Don't even get me started on the trainers and clothes that get dumped where they were taken off .... !

Even getting him to put his cricket bag (which is HUGE) in his bedroom is a battle I am most certainly not winning. So when there is a lull in blogging you will know that I've finally had that serious trip over the cricket bag that I keep telling him will happen!

Garden in June

The garden is looking really pretty at the moment. Shame I seem to spend most of my time indoors working! I'm not the one with green fingers anyway so just get to waft around the garden taking photos of pretty flowers. I'm not sure about that pink thing - I feel I should hate it but I quite like it really.

Truly Vintage Wedding Fair

I had a great day at the Truly Vintage Wedding Fair. The sun shone, I got positive and encouraging feedback about my wares and I met some really lovely people and chatted to lots of inspirational fellow exhibitors.

I learnt a lot too and if/when I do another fair there are certain things I would do differently but as a first attempt I was pretty pleased with my stand.

I was extremely lucky to be placed next to Myrtle & Mint and we found we had lots in common - kids the same age, mothers who quilt and a hatred of carnations! Libby and her mum were a joy to be next to. On my other side were Maiden Homes who again were just lovely and had the most wonderful vintage collection. They had some gorgeous vintage wedding dresses that we were desperate for people to try on and buy!

There are so many great people I'd love to mention but pictures are better than words and Crumb Couture Cakes took some fantastic photos which give a real taster of the exhibitors - so glad someone was organised enough to do that.

Cub Camp aka Don't Change Your Clothes Camp

Archie went off to cub camp from Saturday to Wednesday. It changes the whole family and it was almost as if we were all just "going through the motions" until he was back with us.

He loved the fact that he got to have his favourite tea the night before he left as his 'last supper'.

He loved the fact that I made lemon drizzle cake just for him.

And of course he loved the fact that we missed him terribly and he couldn't wait to leave home! He didn't miss us at all and had the most fantastic time.

I packed far too much for him (as always) and I will not tell you about the socks that he came home in, suffice to say he had not used the five pairs of clean socks I'd packed for him .... eugh!

I always pack a little note for them to find when they unpack and sometimes I get one in return.

Although Oscar would never actually admit it - he did miss his brother and apart from just wanting him back I was also pleased to have him home so that I didn't get asked "will you come and bowl to me", "will you come and play tennis with me" "what can I do".

Oh yes now I remember why I had two children eighteen months apart ... so they could play with each other. Normality is resumed.

[whisper] Actually not quite normality because they haven't started bickering again yet.

Orla Kiely

Last week my friend very kindly drove me up to London to go to the Orla Kiely Summer Sample Sale. Her husband works just across the road from where the sale was held AND is important enough to have a car parking space so we had to go didn't we?

We did a quick school run and set off. Although we made good time and we were escorted by a super efficient doorman to where we wanted to go we just didn't quite beat the crowds and the first lot of people got in before us.

It was hell looking through the windows at all these people with armfuls of stuff and in the end we simply had to turn our backs away from the windows! After a short time queues are quite sociable places and I met a lovely lady who has just set up a super-cool, Eastern flavoured clothes shop called shopyuko.

So what did I buy .... too much. This particular friend is an extremely bad influence and very beguilingly says, "it suits you so you have to get it", "that is very reasonable you'd be a fool not to buy that", "go on treat yourself you deserve it". But I am really pleased with everything I bought and am so in love with this bag I can't stop looking at it!
